About this piece

The body is worked in a soft cream stitch with a simple round neck. It falls straight and loose, so it skims the body instead of clinging. The drama is in the sleeves: they widen at the elbow, and from each cuff a long ruffle edged in the colours of the Ethiopian flag spills down in waves, built by hand, row after row.

Every kaftan is made to order in your size, so allow 4-6 weeks. Wear it to church and celebrations over a slip, or with gold jewellery for a wedding or an evening out. Want a different base colour or a shorter length? Ask, and Selamawit will tell you what is possible.

Soft acrylic yarn

Care

Hand wash in cold water with a mild soap. Press the water out gently, never wring. Dry flat in the shade and reshape the ruffles while damp. Do not hang, tumble dry or iron.
