How do I find my size?
Measure yourself with a soft tape and compare with our size guide. If you are between two sizes, pick the larger one, since crochet has a little stretch. Still unsure? Send us your measurements and we will tell you which size to order, or make it to fit you.
How long will my order take?
In-stock pieces ship in 2-5 days. Made-to-order and custom pieces take about 4-6 weeks, because each one is crocheted by hand from the start. Each product page tells you which it is.
Can I order for a holiday or a wedding date?
Yes, and please do it early. For made-to-order pieces, order at least 6 weeks before the date, and write the date in the notes. Before Meskel, Timkat and Genna the queue fills up fast.
How do I wash crochet?
By hand, in cold water with a mild soap. Press the water out, never wring, and dry it flat in the shade. Never hang a wet crochet piece: the weight of the water stretches it out of shape. No tumble dryer, no iron.
Do I pay in birr or in dollars?
It depends on where the piece is going. For delivery in Ethiopia, prices are in birr and you pay by Telebirr or CBE Birr. For delivery in the USA, prices are in dollars and you pay by card. Paying from abroad for a gift in Addis Ababa? Switch the currency to dollars and pay by card.
Can I send a piece as a gift?
Yes. Put the recipient's name and address at checkout and add a message in the notes. We will include it on a card. Prices are never put in a gift parcel. Many diaspora customers order this way for family in Addis Ababa.
Can I choose my own colours?
Yes. Most pieces can be made in other colours: choose "Custom colours" and tell us what you want in the notes, or send a photo of the shade. A piece in custom colours becomes made to order, so allow 4-6 weeks.
Do you deliver to other countries?
We deliver across Ethiopia, to the USA and to Europe (the EU, the UK, Norway, Switzerland and Iceland). Europe: $35 tracked, free over $250; import VAT is charged by your country on delivery. Anywhere else: message us.
How do I track my order?
Sign in to your account to see your order's status. In the USA and Europe you get a tracking number by email the day it ships. In Addis Ababa we call or message you before we deliver. For a made-to-order piece, you can message Selamawit any time to ask how it is coming along.
Will crochet stretch?
A little, and that is part of its comfort. It relaxes with wear and goes back into shape after a gentle wash and a flat dry. That is why we suggest the larger size if you are between two.
